Training Log - December 27-January 2

So, that's a wrap. This week concludes seven weeks of focused training in preparation for my first skimo race of the year. Looking back on other seasons this has been the most directed and purposeful preparation I have undergone in the sport. Certainly, the act of recording and publishing my training in a public forum has generated some of that focus.

Training Log - December 20-26

So, I was definitely tired at the end of last week. It was almost 18 hours of work and 26K of vertical skied. I look back and don't see an inordinate amount of intensity. I think the back to back 6 hour days had something to do with it. My sleep was also kind of crappy for part of the week. Whatever. I needed some rest. I decided to take an additional day off. This also helped me manage some social responsibilities.

Training Log - December 13-19

After last week's big melt-off winter finally returned to the Tetons. Initially, new snowfall was light but the temps were frigid. It finally warmed up to more seasonal temps and the snow came big time. Sunday was the best day of the year for me with over 6,000 feet of blower pow and never crossing anyone's tracks. Training-wise, I started off the week tired after sleeping like shit Monday night.

Training Log - December 6-12

Nothing outrageous to report this week in training. I was on target for getting my 15 hour/week goal and then got side-tracked by the damn job! Yes, life certainly gets in the way when you don't get paid to train. So, I ended up taking an extra day off on Thursday after getting hammered in the operating room for 11 hours and just could not get psyched about going up on the King after 8pm. This allowed me a short block of over-reaching into the weekend that I certainly felt. Hopefully, I will come up out stronger because of it.

Training Log - November 29 - December 5

The third week of training went fairly well with only a conditions-induced hiccup buying me an extra day off on Thursday. I also tested my dedication, forgoing the office Christmas party for training late into the evening on Friday night. I found myself doing two laps up Old Pass Road after a late night at work on a gorgeous night with lots of fresh pow.
